21st Century Girl

Recently, I have been into the whole minimalist look. Sometimes the garmet should be able to speak for itself. A good fitted outfit is better than a plain outfit with an abundance of accessories in my opinion.
Clothing, now days, has the effect of speaking without actually saying anything. I have tried to track down Jeffrey Campbell shoes in South Africa as well as Loubies but to no avail. Had this convo with a friend at a braai (bbq) recently, and we came to a conclusion that its not that in Africa we don't know much about designers, we don't really have stores that are offered in high fashion/trendy fashion at a specific price bracket. We don't have the Zara, New Look, Forever 21 etc etc...that the Americas/ European countries have and we have come to a point where there is no authenticity with African designers anymore. Even, if that is not a problem, in Malaysia you could have the latest trends available in your normal type of shops its not such a big deal that you have to go to the 'known' retailers.
Is Africa not at par with the fashion capitals yet?

beautiful! you look like a model :) ever considered trying out for ANTM?

okay my thoughts on fashion. i think even if you dont wear designer clothes or any other popular brands from the US or Europe it doesnt mean you're an outcast or you dont have style. Other people may be wearing the lastest collection from who ever designer but if she/he doesnt have that sense of style to put it all together then.. Im sorry, you dont have it. In your case, you do and i believe you shouldnt worry if Zara or Marc Jacobs is available in your country, important thing is you know how to dress up and carry yourself :)

Those brands you mentioned are available in my country (Philippines) and i see their collections everyday on the street worn by people some really look good in them but some dont know how to dress up properly. The brand of clothes do not define and can never define your sense of fashion and carry you to look good.

You have a gift and im happy that you have this blog to share your gift with the rest of us :)

love, Pattieta

Hi Maddy! In reply to your question: yes, I think a clearer font will be better. Your current one looks cool and different, but it makes me kind of dizzy trying to read! Lol!

And thanks, it cost me a very stiff shoulder at london fashion week to get those shots! xoxo

@Pattieta. Totally agreed! Style can't be bought. And so very often people are found to have lots of branded clothing but really don't pull it off. And most times those branded clothing aren't exactly the most amazing items out there. My point was that why don't we have good retailers with good quality clothing in Africa, without a heafty price tag? There are sooo many creative designers in Africa...But when they do make something 'unique' there is a heafty price tag. Just made me think that here style has a heafty price tag.
